DIY Bicycle Rim Winter Wreath

The Winter Solstice was yesterday, Yule has finally started, and Christmas is right around the corner!

If you’re still looking for a quick way to decorate for the holiday season, this Bike Wreath DIY is super simple, fun, and easy to create.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Old Bike Rim (we moved the center peg)
  • Hot Glue Gun (and glue sticks)
  • Pair of Scissors
  • Good Amount of Leafy Garland
  • Other Decorations (we used two different berry garlands, white winter bush, and a sled Christmas tree ornament)

To make the wreath, we laid out all our supplies and planned the design accordingly. Once we were happy with how we wanted it, we started with the leafy green garland as our base.

At this point, you can either glue the garland to the edges of the bike rim, or you can weave it through the spokes. Next, our white winter bush was placed strategically in lovely little spurts, laid out like mistletoe leaves. Lastly, for that red pop of color, we added some of the red berries interspersed with the green and we wove them together as we glued it down. (Make sure you press and set for at least 15 seconds!) Once you have your base set, add your own quaint little elements of winter, and let your creative juices run vividly wild.

Keep your wreath as minimal or make it as extravagant as you want! You can use Christmas colors to make it holiday festive or keep it more outdoorsy for a classic rustic winter feel. Choosing an all white direction could prove to be elegant and modern for a cleaner holiday look.

Once your done, your one-of-a-kind wreath would be great addition to a door at your house, a families house, or even a unique gift for your bike-loving loved one. We had a blast making this beautiful little wreath, and hope we can spread some wreath making joy to you and yours. Happy Crafting!
